Spring at Wortley Hall
We got the urge to go away in the van so after a night at the Merry Lads in Sheffield , we came to Wortley Hall, a five van certified location not far from home but it feels like it's a million miles away. There are views over towards Barnsley and it's wooded, has a formal garden, a bar and a restaurant. It's used as a conference centre and it's a lovely old building. You have hook up and there's water and emptying and access to the toilets in the Hall.
There's lots of places to walk nearby and the village of Wortley has a village shop, tea room, pub and working men's club ( which won an award this year). We had a drink in the bar after a walk around the estate. We saw a fox and and owl on the walk back to the very quiet pitch.
The next day, we went for a walk down to Wortley Station and through Wharncliffe Woods. The walk we did was written up as a four mile walk but it was six so we dropped gratefully into chairs at the Wortley Arms and had a welcoming beer. We went into the Hall for an evening meal in the bar and the food was good and the choice of beers also good. We'll be back!
